Tim Harris

Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corphas appointed Tim Harris vice president and general manager for national defense, the company announced Wednesday.

The 16-year company veteran will oversee programs and direct all new defense-related business pursuits for the national defense strategic business unit.

He will also lead the company’s national security space programs, Chief Operating Officer Rob Strain said in a release.

Strain, who joined the company as COO in January, also credited Harris with developing new business opportunities, leadership in program performance and forming customer relationships.

Harris previously has served as director of business development for defense programs and program director for the Space Based Space Surveillance program, launched in 2010 to track space debris.

Harris received the Gabe Award, the company’s highest honor, in 2011.
