ATK Names 18-Year Legal Vet Scott Chaplin SVP, General Counsel; Mark DeYoung Comments

ATK (NYSE: ATK) has appointed Scott Chaplin senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective Oct. 1.

The company said the 18-year legal veteran will serve as the company’s principal legal officer and oversee corporate legal functions including government contract oversight, regulatory compliance and global sales team support.

He will also provide oversight for product and intellectual property management and advise President and CEO Mark DeYoung, the board of directors and senior leaders.

“Scott has broad-based legal, government, compliance and strategic industry experience, ” DeYoung said.

According to the company, Chaplin’s experience includes developing, leading and advising on compliance and governance, acquisitions and investments, ethics, contracts, pricing and procurements for defense and aerospace companies.

Before joining ATK, Chaplin served as SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary at Stanley Inc., acquired by CGI Group (NYSE: GIB) in 2010.

Prior to that, he served as VP and general counsel for BAE Systems Inc.’s information technology unit.
