L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has won a contract potentially worth nearly $2 billion for U.S. Army helicopter maintenance and work, the company announced Tuesday.
The recompeted contract contains one base year and four option years.
L-3 has supported Army and Air Force operations at at Fort Rucker, Ala. since 2003, said John McNellis, president of the integrated systems group.
He added in a release the company’s Army fleet support workforce supports military aviators and their training mission.
The company will help the Army maintain and manage logistics for nearly 600 helicopters used by the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and the U.S. Air Force Air Education Training Command.
The Army Contracting Command’s office in Redstone, Ala. awarded the contract on behalf of the Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command.
L-3, BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) are teaming in pursuit of an estimated $11 billion contract for up to 350 Air Force training jets.
BAE initially announced it would be the prime contractor and Northrop would be a manufacturing partner.
