The U.S. Marine Corps will award up to $775 million to a group of companies for commercial off-the-shelf computers and related equipment on a just announced indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

The multiple-award contract has three base years and two option years, according to the Defense Department.

Contractors will compete for individual delivery orders for ruggedized and non-ruggedized laptops and desktops, servers and other accessories.

Awardees include:

  • Dell (NYSE: DELL)
  • GTSI Corp. (NYSE: GTSI)
  • Intelligent Decisions Inc.
  • Iron Bow Technologies
  • World Wide Technology, Inc.

Fourteen bids were made during a competitive process via an electronic request for proposals and the Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Va. is the contracting activity.

Late last month, the U.S. Navy awarded a potential $123 million contract to SAIC Inc. (NYSE: SAI) and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) to provide the branch with software engineering support.
