L-3 Names Craig Reed, John Heller to Engility Spinoff Exec Team

L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has appointed John Heller and Dr. Craig Reed to executive leadership positions within its Alexandria, Va.-based services group, the company announced Monday.

The two government contracting veterans will help transition the group as L-3 spins it off into a new company called Engility.

Reed and Heller will report to Tony Smeraglinolo, Engility’s future chief executive who currently serves as executive vice president of the services group.

Heller, a 25-year information technology veteran, joins L-3 from Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) where he led IT services. He will serve as president of the C2S2 division.

Reed will serve in the services group in the new position of senior vice president for strategic development. He previously held senior federal government positions and was SVP of strategy and corporate development at DynCorp International.

He has also served executive roles at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT).

<p>L-3 also recently appointed the Air Force’s former acquisition executive David Van Buren senior vice president of business strategy.
