Hughes Names CenturyLink Vet Gene Caffrey a North American Govt Sales Lead

Hughes Network Systems has appointed Eugene “Gene” Caffrey a sales director for the company’s North American government solutions group, the company announced Thursday.

He will be responsible for several federal accounts and Midwest regional sales.

The 16-year government market veteran understands how agencies adapt to policy and technology changes while deploying communications networks and applications, according to Tony Bardo, assistant vice president of government solutions.

The appointment is part of plans to grow in managed network services and digital messaging, Bardo added.

Caffrey previously served as branch director for federal agencies and systems integrators at CenturyLink’s government unit, where he led the national sales team in developing the sales pipeline.

He also managed government customer accounts and closed sales.

Prior to joining CenturyLink, he held leadership positions at Global Crossing and MCI/Worldcom.
