Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) has appointed Jon Love vice president of strategic business development for its North American public sector defense group.

The Falls Church, Va.-based information technology firm said he will manage the group’s strategic direction and new business prospects.

Group President Alan Weakley said the 25-year industry veteran will also drive the company’s strategy for increasing its information technology programs and offerings.

Love previously served as president of Pitney Bowes’ government solutions organization, where the company credits him with increasing revenue by double digits and winning new contracts.

He also has held executive positions at Robbins-Gioia, Avaya, Lucent Technologies and AT&T (NYSE: T).

CSC CEO Mike Lawrie started his position as chief executive in March after a six-year term as CEO of financial services software firm Misys.

He succeeded Michael Laphen, who retired within five months of announcing his departure.
