Northrop Wins $87M Air Force Fire Control Radar Contract

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) has won an $87.8 million U.S. Air Force contract to produce 43 fire control radar systems under a foreign military sales agreement.

The Defense Department said Iraq will purchase 22 AN/APG-68 (V) radars, Oman’s air force will purchase 15 of those systems and Thailand’s air force will purchase 9 units.

Work will occur in Linthicum Heights, Md. with an expected completion date of March 31, 2015.

Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is the contracting activity.

The company’s Longbow LLC joint venture with Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) won a $181 million contract in January for fire control radar systems used on Apache helicopters.

Taiwan is the first international customer to purchase those systems.
