Former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has joined Noblis’ board of trustees, the company announced Thursday.

Chertoff is the co-founder and managing principal at security consultant Chertoff Group and currently serves as senior of counsel at Covington & Burling LLP.

The newly appointed trustee held the secretary post at DHS between 2005 and 2009 and led the Justice Department’s criminal division as assistant attorney general between 2001 and 2003.

He is a co-author of the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001, commonly referred to as the Patriot Act.

He also served on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals as a federal judge.

In February, Accenture (NYSE: ACCN) announced that Chertoff had joined an advisory board at that company alongside former high-ranking government and military officials, including former Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn and former South Dakota senator Tom Daschle.
