Lockheed Wins Potential $841M Sniper Pod Upgrade Contract

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) won a potential $841 million U.S. Air Force contract to provide post-production support for sniper targeting pods.

The Bethesda, Md.-based contractor said the Air Force will award the seven-year contract incrementally over a five-year period with two option years.

Work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will include hardware and software upgrades and platform integration for the Air Force’s Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod fleet.

The company may also provide spares, technical data and support of organic depot requirements under the contract.

Lockheed won a majority share of the contract in 2010 for the ATP-Sensor Enhancement program.

The company won a potential $881 million U.S. Army contract earlier this month for 51 rocket defense radar systems.

The Air Force uses the pods on fixed-wing aircraft for long-range detection, identification and surveillance support.

The Air National Guard also uses the pods.
