Lockheed Wins $78M Air Force Missile Warning System Contract

Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) has won a $78.2 million U.S. Air Force contract to provide a missile warning system, the Defense Department announced Wednesday.

The Shared Early Warning System Program will provide coalition partners with missile event information.

U.S. theater combatant commander headquarters will use the program for situational awareness information.

The company’s information systems and global solutions unit will perform work under the cost-plus-incentive-fee, firm-fixed-price, cost-reimbursement contract in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The Pentagon expects work to finish by by September 2016.

Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado is the contracting activity.

Earlier this week, the Bethesda, Md.-based contractor won a $66 million follow-on contract to continue developing the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.

The company will also provide three years of engineering services.
