General Dynamics Promotes Phebe Novakovic to President, COO

Phebe N. Novakovic,  General DynamicsGeneral Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) board of directors elected Phebe Novakovic as president and chief operating officer, effective May 2.

The Falls Church, Va. based contractor said on Thursday that Novakovic will report directly to chairman and CEO Jay L. Johnson.

Johnson said Novakovic will help him oversee and manage the company’s business groups and headquarters operations.

Novakovic previously served as an executive vice president, where she managed the company’s marine systems group including subsidiaries Bath Iron Works, Electric Boat and NASSCO.

From 2005 to 2010, she served as senior vice president of planning and development and managed government relations, communications and investor relations.

In 2002, Novakovic was appointed vice president of strategic planning.

Earlier this week, SAIC appointed Stu Shea to be that company’s new chief operating officer after five years of serving as president of the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance group.
