Italian aerospace and defense group Finmeccanica has confirmed that former Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn has joined its DRS Technologies subsidiary as chairman and CEO.
The company announced Lynn will succeed current Chairman and CEO Mark Newman, who is retiring. Prior to joining DRS, Lynn served as deputy defense secretary from 2009 to 2011.
He also served as the Pentagon’s chief financial officer from 1997 to 2001. From 2002 to 2009, Lynn was senior vice president of government operations and strategy at Raytheon (NYSE: RTN).
Finmeccanica Chairman and CEO Giuseppe Orsi said Lynn’s responsibilities will include adapting DRS’ activities to a changing U.S. and international defense market.
