TRICARE to Tap Contractors for DoD, VA Electronic Heath Record Pharmacy

The TRICARE Management Activity has issued a request for information to solicit advice from government contractors on how to best develop an electronic health record pharmacy for the Defense and Veterans Affairs departments.

Unnamed industry sources who spoke with Nextgov.com said a successful contracting bid will demonstrate an ability to effectively manage the 190 million prescription transactions the two departments handle each year.

Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE: CSC) won a 51-month contract worth $95 million in October 2010 to run the current Military Health System‘s pharmacy data transaction service, which TRICARE manages.
