Lockheed Wins $980M Missile Defense IDIQ

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has awarded Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) information systems and global solutions business a $980 million follow-on indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Pentagon announced Friday.

Under this award, Lockheed will work to update and add new capabilities to the MDA’s command and control, battle management and communications operations.

The Pentagon said Lockheed will develop, model, fabricate and integrate updates and capabilities. It will also operate and sustain them and provide training services.

The ordering period for the sole-source and incentive-based IDIQ runs from Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2016. Lockheed will perform the work in Arlington, Va.

The Pentagon said fiscal 2012 research, development, test and evaluation funds will be used to incrementally fund the initial orders.

The MDA, Huntsville, Ala., is the contracting activity.
