GeoEye to Provide Foundation for New Satellite Imagery Government Portals

GeoEye Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY) has won two awards worth more than $25 million, including an enhanced GEOINT delivery order from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

The order was awarded under the EnhancedView contract GeoEye won in August 2010. GeoEye will make satellite imagery readily accessible to licensed federal customers through the company’s EnhancedView web hosting service.

GeoEye will also expand the service to support third-party data, crisis imagery and new government portals.

Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) has also subcontracted GeoEye to provide work on a controlled-image base production contract to supply imagery from high-resolution satellites and other sources.

This imagery will support command and control, mission planning and rehearsal for domestic and military operations. The contract also supports NGA.

“We are proud to serve the NGA and other government agencies by delivering cost-effective geospatial solutions that anticipate the growing demands of their user base, ” said Chris Incardona, GeoEye’s senior director of government programs.
