The National Institute of Health has awarded Northrop Grumman a contract to support research. The follow-on contract is for five years worth up to $16 million.
Northrop Grumman will support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases by creating a web-based resource to support research on pathogens. Specifically, Northrop Grumman will build and support Virus Pathogen Resource Bioinformatics Resource Center to help research into class A, B and C pathogens. The resource will include information that is publicly available on clinical data, genome data, surveillance data and clinical data from human trials. Amy King, VP of Health Information Technology Programs said “Northrop Grumman will apply world-class information technology and bioinformatics techniques to develop a quality scientific information system that supports crucial experimental biology research efforts. Our Bioinformatics Resource Center database will be useful for researchers investigating biodefense and public health issues.”
