Contract Award- Boeing – $8.56 Million – DOE

The Department of Energy has awarded Boeing Co. a contract worth $8.56 million to develop prototype smart grid technology. The award was one of 32 contracts awarded by the DOE totaling $620 million.

According to the statement made by the DOE, under the contract, Boeing will “demonstrate an advanced smart-grid software technology with military-grade cybersecurity for improving regional transmission system planning and operation.”

Secretary for the Department of Energy, Steven Chu, said “These demonstration projects will further our knowledge and understanding of what works best and delivers the best results for the smart grid.”
